Day 17: old methods work best
Day 17:
Day 17: rest day at Warrington. After two and a bit weeks of doing this I know what does and doesn't work for me. Looks like the old methods work best: do anything to eliminate the need to stop; carry a full day's food and water from the start - it gets lighter quickly and saves hunting for it in the field. Stopping wastes time; a body that isn't moving forwards is moving backwards. That's bad for morale. Hand sanititiser and anti-bac wipes are necessary to avoid contact contamination spreading (i.e. Tying a boot lace that's touched the ground in an agricultural area then handling food - not wise). Deodorant is worth carrying for peace of mind. Road walking is quicker than bush whacking. 100 stinging nettle stings feel like fire - won't treat my body like a battering ram again unless there are no other options. Relying solely on fitness isn't smart; what happens when exhaustion wins? Lots to learn.

A note about the blog
I must be the only LEJOGer without a smart phone. This means I don't have the ability to update this blog when I'm on the trail. My support team back home kindly offered to update the blog for me, so this will be communicated by text message and written up on my behalf. It will therefore be brief and without photos. I will expand on this when I get back from my journal entries, dictaphone recordings and photo journal. The detailed account will be published as a book which will be available on Amazon.
