Day 19: on LEJOG normal rules don't apply
Day 19:
Day 19: today I woke up in a hotel next to the A6 which filled me with joy because it had a pavement that went all 5 miles to Preston. There I had a large cooked breakfast, super glued a seam on my boot which the opposing metal cleat had caught, examined my maps and took a gamble: assuming the A6 has a pavement all the way (22 miles) to Lancaster, why don't I just follow it? I was lucky. Today's 27 miles were the easiest of the campaign so far. You might think a day solidly walking an A road sounds like a nightmare. Under normal circumstances it might be but on Lejog normal rules don't apply. I don't want to fight for every mile. I started at 9:30 and finished at 18:30 - finally, normal walking hours! Long may this continue! Am I half way yet?

A note about the blog
I must be the only LEJOGer without a smart phone. This means I don't have the ability to update this blog when I'm on the trail. My support team back home kindly offered to update the blog for me, so this will be communicated by text message and written up on my behalf. It will therefore be brief and without photos. I will expand on this when I get back from my journal entries, dictaphone recordings and photo journal. The detailed account will be published as a book which will be available on Amazon.
